Cost effective resilient dedicated connectivity

Sometimes greater or more resilient connectivity may be required at a site than can be provided by ADSL, especially where services are critical or more bandwidth is required.

Ethernet is rapidly becoming the preferred choice for wide area data connectivity for businesses of all sizes. It is designed to provide customers with the ability to answer the growing demand for bandwidth - wherever in the UK it might be. It supports both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations and enables customers to extend the reach of their networks.

Quickly installed Copper Ethernet

Also known as Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM), it uses low cost copper pairs, similar to those used with a telephone line, so it is quick to install and significantly cheaper than more expensive fibre. It is installed as up to 5 copper pairs (each one being 2Mb) offering resilience, such that in the event of one of the pairs becoming unserviceable, the others simply adjust their bandwidth according to remaining circuits.

EFM is a really cost effective service that can be quickly installed and offers, (subject to location which must be < 3Km from a local exchange) , up to 10Mbps bandwidth that can be provided as either 1:1 or 5:1 contention:

  • Core circuit bandwidth can be purchased as either 2Mbps, 4Mbps,6 Mbps, 8 Mbps or 10Mbps

  • Committed bandwidth can be flexed and changed to suit growth or seasonal needs from 0.25 Mbps to 10Mbps so you don't pay for what you don't need and have the flexibility to add more bandwidth as you need it up to 10Mbps

  • It can be delivered in as short time as 4 weeks compared with longer term Fibre installs

EFM connections can be provided for internet connectivity or connected as part of a PWAN solution to connect different sites together. Either way, it is today's cost effective solution for resilient dedicated circuit connectivity.

Circuits are connected from your site into Europacom's core network that is diversely connected into BT Wholesale's core Ethernet service. This provides you with a high level of resilience and cost effective connectivity over Europacom's core national network,

EFM offers:

  • Flexible pricing with bandwidth options to suit your needs: You can chose the bearer pipe size your need based on long term requirements, and then chose a bandwidth throughput for your immediate needs which can then be later scaled as required. Bandwidth on the same bearer pipe can be changed at less than a weeks notice.

  • Extensive UK availability as the 21C network is rolled out, without distance limitations (with the exception of the local access) - so you can extend your reach to connect all your sites.

  • Versatility - offering either point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connectivity to match your configuration and application needs.

  • Resilience and security - for mission-critical data traffic with 99.95% service availability plus the added confidence of maintenance services 24/7.

High bandwidth dedicated Fibre connectivity

Where greater bandwidth or more resilient connectivity is required at a site or to connect a multi site business over PWAN infrastructure,
Ethernet fibre connectivity form 2Mbps to 1Gbps is the most cost effective solution.

Ethernet is designed to provide customers with the ability to answer the growing demand for bandwidth - wherever in the UK it might be. It supports both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations and enables customers to extend the reach of their networks over an MPLS PWAN solution.

Ethernet is suitable for use as:

  • A point to point circuit

  • Direct high bandwidth internet connectivity

  • Point to point connectivity over Europacom's hub and spoke network allowing multiple smaller sites to connect to a head office over DSL which in turn is connected Europacom's network over Ethernet

  • A resilient circuit for critical voice and data applications

What the benefits of Fibre Ethernet?

Flexibility

  • Core circuit bandwidth is generally purchased as either a 10 Mbps, 100Mbps or 1Gbps circuit

Scalability

  • Committed bandwidth can be flexed and changed to suit growth or seasonal needs from 1 Mbps to 1Gbps so you don't pay for what you don't need and have the flexibility to add more bandwidth as you need it.

Resilience

  • Dual fibre connections ensure a robust service backed by an SLA to ensure 99.999% reliability with fully resilient routing

Security

  • Your Ethernet circuit is dedicated to you and supported by managed CPE monitored by Europacom
