Europacom and Marston’s
Europacom’s task was to meet Marston’s own business challenge to bring technological advancement to a diverse, widespread estate, and an eclectic range of clientele with differing needs and expectations. In the fast-paced world of hospitality, the primary focus is service and customer satisfaction, so we had to deliver on time and without disrupting the day-to-day running of the business.

Marston’s shopping list: Not small beer
Clearly there was no point in change for its own sake. Marstons’ needed Europacom to add value to their existing business processes, starting with the performance issues of their current platform, congested by computers and EPOS systems running at over 450 licensed premises. They needed improved stock control monitoring and food management reporting via EPOS systems. Near real-time business activity reporting was another must-have. 

What we did first …
We recognised that a broadband network would solve the performance issues, and that our Atlas online provisioning and estate management software would meet the Marstons brief for visibility, and ability to manage both the network and the associated equipment and services, perfectly. We activated the broadband services and physically installed the VPN routers on all sites to minimise disruption, using Atlas throughout to monitor the broadband roll-out.

What we did next …
Having met the initial brief, Europacom are now adding WiFi hotspots where suitable and paving the way for future VoIP services. We’re also helping Marston’s explore the gaming, broadcast audio and video options for their sites to further exploit the broadband opportunity in the future. Marston’s now use a number of Europacom’s business management assets; the ATLAS  network, the Aphelion application, and our Connectivity and Telephony services.
